Operation ShoeBox

I'd never heard of this before this year. We get two shoe-boxes brought to our classroom (one for a boy and one for a girl) and we fill it with nice things for children in Mexico. From the Operation Shoebox website, here are a list of things that are suggested to be included:

School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or pencil crayons, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

Toys: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yoyos, skipping ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, Slinky®, etc.

Hygiene Items: toothbrush, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

Other: Candy (hard through the center, in manufacturers packaging), T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, etc.

A Personal Note: In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family

Let's hope that our students / our children / become interested to give a little bit to make a big difference to others.
